General Safety Information

Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative is committed to the safety of our linemen and member-owners. We fully support Iowa's Mover Over or Slow Down law and we encourage motorists to move over or slow down (preferably both) when approaching utility vehicles on the side of the road with flashing lights activated. ​ Please give our linemen the room they need to work safety; their jobs are dangerous enough already. In accordance with Iowa state law, motorists must move over or slow down when approaching ANY vehicle stopped on the side of the road with its flashing lights activated, including passenger cars and hazard lights. Those who fail to obey the law could receive a traffic ticket or even lose their driver's license.
